back issues

On Friday at around 2am I woke up with the worst back pain ever. I have had problems with my back and pinched nerves and the usual crap that most people have, yet they have been getting worse lately. So by 5 am I couldn't sleep and was near tears from the pain I finally gave in and took a 800mg Ibuprofen. I was able to sleep for about 1 hour when my blessed children woke me up. I made it out of bed in extreme pain so I called my mother for back up. She rushed to my rescue and took care of my kids for the day. I ended up at the Chiropractor (not a real Dr.) who did x-rays and all that jazz. It turns out that I have "acquired scoliosis" and 4 bulging disks in my lower back not to mention that I have "sway back" (which I new about) and some serious problems with my spine in my neck! AWESOME! I've always wanted to be a cripple by the time I turn 40! So needless to say I'm getting a "better" opinion from an actual Dr. I have an appointment with an Orthopedic Specialist at the Spine Institute! Hopefully they can get me all fixed up soon.

That stinks! Good luck @ the doc. How is the house? Can't remember when you move in. Hopefully the back is better by then.

I am so sorry! I totally know how back pain feels. I've got scoliosis too. So does Jacci. Not fun...I've also got my two lowest discs in my back which are almost completely gone:( Losing weight has helped so that the pain isn't as intense as it used to be. But for a year, I went regularly to the chiroprator's (2 times a week), the physical therapists (twice a week), and many visits to the spine specialist. My back is doing much better, but man! That whole process was WAY expensive and time consuming! The end result: I now have to be completely careful of what I do with my back, and if I'm good, I can postpone back surgery for up to ten more years. But I guess surgery is inevitable. Hope you have better luck than me!

I can totally relate as well. I'm so sorry! Which doctor are you seeing at the spine institute? I see Dr. Zaman and he's great! also, for some reason, naproxen works better than ibuprofin, at least for me. Let me know how it goes!
